Advanced Laning Guide

Starting Off Right

Doing well at the start of a Strife game will set you up for success and significantly increase your team's chances of winning. The big question is, how do you start the game off well? Here are some tips for the Laning phase.

Priorities

Some lanes will be more difficult than others, and it's okay to not always "win” your lane! Focus on the highest priorities, especially when you're first learning the game.

Always try to ensure and bolster your own progression before getting aggressive on your enemies.

Survive and Progress

Don't die and keep your Health at a safe level, which will depend on your lane opponents.

Get Experience by staying in range. Purple diamonds next to enemy Brawlers' Health bars indicate that you are in Exp range.

Work with your lane-mate (if you have one) to land the last hit on enemy Brawlers to earn gold.

Slow Enemy Progression

Harass opponents with attacks and abilities to hinder their ability to obtain last hits on your Brawlers.

Zone enemies when you have an advantage to prevent gold earning and reduce experience gain.

Kill enemy heroes!

Simple Tips for Big Improvement

Laning is complex and dynamic - that's what makes it fun every game - but there are some small things you can keep in mind that will go a long way to helping you succeed.

Obtaining Your Purchased Items
Use your courier! You have one all to yourself, so don't be afraid to use your gold to deliver potions and items to yourself while in lane. Gold unspent is an advantage unused.
Last Hitting Brawlers Under Tower
Learn to last hit Brawlers that your tower is attacking. It is difficult, but crucial to recovering from a disadvantage in lane.
Working With Your Lane Partner
Work together with your lane-mate. Trade time out-of-combat to regenerate, make sure at least one of you is scoring last hits on Brawlers.
The Goal of Laning
Winning your lane doesn't mean getting more kills; winning your lane means you earned more gold and had a higher GPM than your opponent.

Got it? Good. Now Put it into Practice:

Here's what you can do to help you take this information and translate it into real improvements to your gameplay.

Bot/Practice Games

Play some practice games or bot games and just practice last hitting Brawlers.

Goal 1
Last hit every single Brawler for the first 5 minutes.
Goal 2
Last hit Brawlers while your Tower is attacking them.
GPM Goals

Set goals for your GPM in lane. Meet them, then increase them. GPM is your thermometer of success.

Goal
Consistently achieve at least 350 GPM in the first 7 minutes.
